Bonus Biogroup - company video
Our story

Bonus Biogroup (TASE: BONS) is an Israeli clinical-stage biotechnology company developing next-generation regenerative medicine therapies from its headquarters and GMP manufacturing centre in Haifa. Its proprietary platform combines autologous mesenchymal cells, a three-dimensional bioactive mineral scaffold and automated bioreactor growth to produce two lead product candidates - BonoFill, a viable tissue-engineered bone graft, and MesenCure, an allogeneic cell therapy for inflammation and tissue damage.

Company presentation 2025

The full investor deck - technology platform, pipeline, clinical results, GMP manufacturing and the market opportunity behind BonoFill and MesenCure.

Who we are

Bonus Biogroup is an advanced clinical-stage biotechnology company developing therapies for indications in regenerative medicine where treatment options are limited and the unmet need is large: bone loss and skeletal defects, uncontrolled inflammation and tissue damage. The company was founded in 2008 and has built a technology platform that underpins both of its leading candidates rather than a single-product programme.

The vision is stated plainly by the company: to empower millions of patients to live healthier and longer lives through transformative science in regenerative medicine. The mission behind it is to develop safe, effective and affordable tissue engineering and cell therapy products for severe conditions in multi-billion-dollar markets.

The technology platform

Autologous cell sampling

Cells are sampled from the patient in a minimally invasive procedure, professionalised and expanded outside the body before being returned as a living graft.

Proprietary bioreactor system

Automated growth with stringent control of expansion and differentiation conditions, designed for consistency and quality between batches.

3D mineral scaffold

A biocompatible and bioactive three-dimensional scaffold carries the cells and gives the graft its mechanical structure.

Allogeneic expansion & priming

Donor-derived mesenchymal cells are expanded and primed to boost potency without genetic modification - no viral vectors, no gene editing.

Single-donor cell banks

Up to 70,000 patients treatable from one donor bank while staying under 20 population doublings, keeping the cell culture young and potent.

Fresh, ready-to-use formulation

MesenCure is supplied fresh and viable rather than cryopreserved, avoiding the loss of potency that comes with freezing and thawing.

Two lead product candidates

Bone regeneration

BonoFill™

A personalised, viable tissue-engineered bone graft made of a high-density culture of the patient's own cells on a bioactive mineral scaffold, grown ex vivo in about two weeks. Designed to fit a wide range of defect sizes for maxillofacial, dental and orthopaedic indications, replacing autologous bone harvesting and its associated morbidity.

Cell therapy

MesenCure™

An enhanced allogeneic cell therapy from healthy-donor adipose mesenchymal cells, designed to modulate inflammation and promote tissue repair. Lead indication is respiratory distress including ARDS, with preclinical work in cytokine release syndrome and chemotherapy-induced organ injury. Given in up to three intravenous doses.

Clinical milestones

  • 2008Bonus Biogroup founded by Dr. Shai Meretzki and a multidisciplinary team of regenerative medicine experts.
  • 2013A dedicated manufacturing centre is established to support research and development.
  • 2016-17Clinical trials of BonoFill begin for facial and limb bone defects.
  • 2021First-in-human study of MesenCure, followed by a 50-patient Phase II in severe COVID-19 respiratory distress.
  • 2022New GMP-compliant headquarters and manufacturing centre opens in Haifa, with two dedicated production halls and QC laboratories.
  • 2024BonoFill maxillofacial Phase II completed: 90% of transplants met the bone reconstruction endpoint, no treatment-related severe adverse events. Israeli Ministry of Health certifies cGMP manufacturing for Phase III.
  • 2025FDA permits a Phase III trial of MesenCure; the protocol is being amended to broaden it to respiratory distress from all causes, including ARDS. BonoFill limb-defect Phase II continues.
  • 2026BonoFill Phase III planned in the United States for jaw bone defects, subject to regulatory clearance; interim limb-defect data expected.

In the MesenCure Phase II, patients treated with MesenCure plus standard of care showed a 68% lower mortality rate, a 57% lower need for invasive ventilation and a 38% shorter hospital stay than standard of care alone.
